The Delhi Premier League (DPL) is currently in full swing, with match three delivering an exhilarating showdown at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Sunday. The New Delhi Tigers faced off against the Outer Delhi Warriors, emerging victorious by a margin of 40 runs.
Choosing to bat first, the Tigers encountered an early challenge when opener Dhruv Kaushik was dismissed for just 5 runs. However, the team rallied back impressively, thanks to a formidable partnership between captain Himmat Singh and Shivam Gupta, who combined for over 150 runs. Shivam played a pivotal role, scoring 89 runs off 53 balls, featuring 8 fours and 4 sixes, while Himmat contributed 69 runs from 39 balls, anchoring the innings.
Despite losing wickets during the innings, a quick cameo from Keshav Dalal, who scored 19 runs off just 9 balls, propelled the Tigers to a total of 222 runs. This marked the first time a team set a target exceeding 200 runs in the second season of the DPL.
Anshuman Hooda was a standout performer for the Outer Delhi Warriors, claiming his first five-wicket haul of the season, becoming the only bowler to consistently apply pressure on the Tigers.
In their chase, the Warriors began strongly with openers Priyansh Arya (26) and Sanat Sangwan (48) forming a solid 69-run partnership. However, once this partnership was broken, the Tigers quickly dismantled the batting order, preventing any significant contributions from the remaining players. Shreshth Yadav (37) and Dhruv Singh (38) made valiant efforts to chase down the target, but ultimately fell short.
